This is my best friend.  The aunt and godmama of my baby.  The sister of my soul.  And she’s having a baby.

Just typing these sentences brings be to tears.  At nearly 22 weeks, I’ve never seen her look more beautiful.  This is our family, the family we were so lucky to choose, and it’s expanding in ways that make cups run over and dreams ignite.

So in the empty dining room of their new home, they spread out blankets.  And over bagels and juice they revealed the voice that already filled their hearts and soon would echo from these walls.  It was a moment I will never forget.

Congratulations Shan & Ryan!  What beautiful parents you will be.  And what a lucky baby to have you to hold.
